Our story

Dennis & I (Darlene) have created this blog to share with all of our friends and family our journey to adopt. The journey began when we met, fell in love and our desire to begin our family. We struggled for 6 years unsuccessfully to have children. Talk of adoption was something we had always considered and in April of 2007 we thought heaven had opened up when we were introduced to a birth mother who wanted to have us adopt her son. After several months of supporting her and her other child throughout the pregnancy our dreams fell apart when the birth mother scammed us not only out of our money but broke our hearts into a million pieces. Dennis was left to pick up the pieces and has reassured me every step of the way with his love and never ending devotion to our dreams of having a family.

Dennis and I started the long process of adopting from Kazakhstan and in 2008 we meet our son Nicholas.

We are now beginning the long process to adopt a sibling for Nicholas and it looks like Russia is where we will be heading next and hope in 2010 we meet our child!

We hope you will join us on our journey as we will do all our updating on this site. As always your love, prayers, good wishes & support mean the world to us. Thank you for being such an important part of our lives.

Dennis is in Almaty......

Dennis left last night (Friday) on a 10:05 PM flight with a 6 hour layover in Amsterdam and arrived in Almaty at 5:00 AM Sunday morning (Saturday night here).

We spoke and he was very tired and planning to sleep his Sunday away.

Dennis traveled over with a super giant bag full of donations to give to our facilitator in Almaty for the baby house in Karaganda from Two Hearts for Hope.

As I was packing up the donation the other night I was truly touched by the amount of baby goods, clothes, snowsuits, hats, mittens, socks, toys, the list goes on and on of items that Two Hearts sent for the baby house.

Two Hearts for Hope is a charity that was started by two moms who adopted from Kazakhstan and came home with a dream of doing more for all the children in Kaz.

To see this dream in full motion with the donation they sent was so heartwarming and what a tremendous gift of giving they are doing. If you want to donate to a charity that truly makes its way to the ones that need it - Please visit the link on the right and you will make a real difference to the little children who need it!

TWO HEARTS FOR HOPE - THANK YOU so much for all you are doing for the kids in Kazakhstan!!!!

How wonderful that you were showered with love and gifts for Nicholas. It truly is emotional. Pretty soon you will be showered with hugs and kisses from your little boy! That is great that Dennis made it back there and brought gifts from Two Hearts. What a great feeling to share that love for the other Kaz children with a box of goodies. I am wishing Dennis and Nicholas a great trip back home. Tricia

Oh yay! Joe is in Frankfurt right now...we've been emailing back and forth cuz he has his iphone. :)

I'm so glad you were able to bring donations. We were so happy to be able to do it too-there is no way you can unless you make 2 trips though!

Joe actually went over on luggage this time because he bought all kinds of puzzles, toys and books and STACKING cups for the baby house cuz we saw how much they could use it. :)

Dennis will need his rest-i'm glad he is sleeping. :)

I know you are anxious to get those sweet boys back home!!

I don't know where we are stayin in Almaty-hopefully an apt rather than in a hotel...but we'll find out soon cuz we have to leave Kostanai on Wed. I am sad to leave it here cuz i love it so much. But, i am making sure i shop until i drop until then. :)
