Our story

Dennis & I (Darlene) have created this blog to share with all of our friends and family our journey to adopt. The journey began when we met, fell in love and our desire to begin our family. We struggled for 6 years unsuccessfully to have children. Talk of adoption was something we had always considered and in April of 2007 we thought heaven had opened up when we were introduced to a birth mother who wanted to have us adopt her son. After several months of supporting her and her other child throughout the pregnancy our dreams fell apart when the birth mother scammed us not only out of our money but broke our hearts into a million pieces. Dennis was left to pick up the pieces and has reassured me every step of the way with his love and never ending devotion to our dreams of having a family.

Dennis and I started the long process of adopting from Kazakhstan and in 2008 we meet our son Nicholas.

We are now beginning the long process to adopt a sibling for Nicholas and it looks like Russia is where we will be heading next and hope in 2010 we meet our child!

We hope you will join us on our journey as we will do all our updating on this site. As always your love, prayers, good wishes & support mean the world to us. Thank you for being such an important part of our lives.

We have arrived....................

Well we are here in Kaz and it was an uneventful but very long trip. Jetlag hit me hard yesterday but am feeling great today. Time difference is 10 hours so that is a bit difficult to adjust to. We are on dial up which is very slow but better then not having any internet at all which is difficult as we had experienced yesterday.

Now for what everyone is waiting to know..............we went to the babyhouse and met a child but until we have more information and the medical documents we are waiting before we give any more details........sorry folks you'll have to wait a bit longer for more........

More details will follow soon...............promise!

Hello! welcome to Kaz!
I am glad yuo made it safe and sound.
The jet lag is a bit brutal, but you'll feel like a new woman in the next few days. I relied on my ambien the first 3 nights or so so could get some sleep...it stays light so late here.

I hope that you feel good about your kiddo...and try not to let the diagnosis "scare" you too much, and the kiddo's take a couple visits to really open up and show off their "mad skillz" too...

praying for a successful match for ya'll...can't wait to hear. :)

ps. dial up gets better too. :)

Woohoo- so glad to hear you made it and can't wait to hear more.

Here is one deep secret no one shares: the first week is pretty scarey so if you feel panicy about it, don't worry. its totally natural. Let me know if you have skype and need to talk. I was calling people from Kaz on Skype to ask about how they felt during their 1st week.

He's beautiful I'm so happy for you. Can't wait till he meets his aunt Carole.... We got to get him skying and used to the cold. Not like his mommy. PS Brian and I tied the knot Sunday. Be safe and give Nicholas a hug and a kiss from all of us.
